Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Doorstep mobile application ("App"), operated by Doorstep ("we", "our", or "us"). By creating an account or using the App you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use Doorstep. By using the App you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older. We reserve the right to suspend any account where we have reason to believe the user is under 18.
You must be a human individual. Accounts created by bots, scripts, or automated methods are prohibited.
2. Account Responsibilities
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
- You must provide accurate and truthful information in your profile
- You may not create more than one account
- You must notify us immediately at support@doorstepcompany.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the App to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users
- Post or send sexually explicit content without clear consent from the recipient
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity, age, or location
- Solicit money, financial information, or goods from other users
- Advertise, spam, or promote third-party products or services
- Post content that is defamatory, discriminatory, or incites violence or hatred
- Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the App or its infrastructure
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Violations of this section may result in immediate account suspension or termination without notice or refund.
4. User Content
You retain ownership of content you submit (photos, messages, posts). By uploading content you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and transmit that content solely for the purpose of operating the App.
You are solely responsible for the content you post. We do not routinely monitor or pre-screen user content, but we may use automated tools and manual review to detect and remove illegal content (such as child sexual abuse material) and content that violates these Terms or our community standards, and to meet our legal and safety obligations.
5. Suburb Board
The Suburb Board is a public-within-suburb feature. Posts, comments, and reactions are visible to all Doorstep users in your suburb. Do not post personal information, private disputes, or content that could identify or harm specific individuals.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
Plans
Doorstep offers a free tier and paid subscription plans (Pro and Max) with enhanced features. Prices are displayed in the App at the time of purchase and are charged in AUD unless otherwise specified in your App Store region.
Billing
- Monthly subscriptions automatically renew each month until cancelled
- Annual subscriptions are charged in full upfront at the start of each billing period
- All payments are processed by the app store you downloaded Doorstep from — Apple via In-App Purchases (iOS) or Google via Google Play Billing (Android). We never receive or store your card details
Cancellation
You may cancel a subscription at any time through your Apple ID subscription settings (iOS) or your Google Play subscription settings (Android). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and access to paid features continues until that date.
Change-of-mind refunds. Subscriptions — including annual plans charged upfront — are generally non-refundable for change of mind or non-use, and we do not issue refunds directly. Because all purchases are billed by Apple or Google, any refund is handled by them under their store policies, which you can request through your app store account. Nothing in this section limits or excludes any rights or remedies you have that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (including the consumer guarantees) or other applicable law.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices at any time. Existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before a price change takes effect. Continued subscription after the change date constitutes acceptance of the new price.
7. Free Tier Limits
Free accounts are subject to daily, weekly, and monthly usage limits (knocks, rings, undos, suburb posts, reactions). These limits are displayed within the App and may be updated at our discretion with reasonable notice.
8. Blocking and Reporting
You may block or report any user, profile, or suburb-board post at any time within the App. Blocked users cannot interact with you and their content is removed from your view immediately; every block also notifies our safety team for review. We review reports of objectionable content promptly — normally within 24 hours — and may take action including removing content, issuing warnings, suspension, or permanent bans. We do not guarantee any specific outcome from a report.
A 24-hour cooldown applies after unblocking a user before you can re-block them.
9. Account Termination
By you
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account. When you do, your profile is hidden from all other users immediately and you are signed out of all sessions. Your account then enters a recovery window: it remains recoverable for 90 days (or 365 days where required for safety or legal reasons, such as a reported or banned account). Signing back in within that window restores your account, though your previous matches, conversations, and most profile details are cleared so you start fresh. Once the recovery window passes, your profile, photos, messages, and match history are permanently removed from our active systems. Deletion does not entitle you to a refund of any prepaid subscription fees. Subscription transaction records are retained for 7 years as required by Australian taxation law.
By us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in behaviour harmful to other users, or for any other reason at our sole discretion. We will endeavour to provide notice where reasonably possible, except in cases of serious or repeated violations.
10. Intellectual Property
All App content, branding, design, and code are owned by or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute any part of the App without our express written consent. The Doorstep name and logo are our property.
11. Disclaimers
Doorstep is a platform for facilitating connections between adults. We do not conduct background checks on users and make no representations about the identity, character, or intentions of any user. You are solely responsible for your own safety when interacting with others — online or in person. Always meet new people in public places.
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, data accuracy, or that you will form any connections.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to personal injury, emotional distress, loss of data, or financial loss arising from interactions with other users.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Australia. If you are a consumer under Australian Consumer Law, nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via push notification or in-app message at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the App after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
